The Last are scheduled to play with the Urinals and Wednesday Week on Sunday, May 30th.

I don't know if this is a free show or if there is a fee/donation (as there is a benefit involved). Maybe Mike or Joe or David can pop in here with more info.

Glad I'm not dyslexic...

I was able to make it yesterday. It was great to finally see The Last! I went with another LHS buddy, Kevin Kearin. I was mostly up at Cal when the L.A. punk thing was happening, so poor poor pitiful me. I was going to say hello but everyone made such a quick exit after the set! I was the portly guy with the shit-eating grin and red hat to match. I really, really enjoyed it. Such intensity and power live. The between song banter was a hoot! Last time I saw Joe and Vitus play was 34 years ago, ouch!

The Urinals were loud but proud and very clever. Wednesday Week had the perfect sound and were a joy to watch. That ric that David was playing with them sure sounded sweet. It was a treat to see him also playing guitar for The Last. I think I saw him playing bass once with Maria McKee at the El Rey Theatre. I didn't make the connection then. To me Life is Sweet is one of THOSE records.

Yes, it's a different reality these days.

David and I went up the street to 7-11 to buy his son an Icee and came right back. Joe was outside talking to various people. When we returned we saw Mike heading to the car. So some left, but some were still there.

This board is just another victim of facebook, and that's not an entirely bad thing. There's a Last page over there that Lisa runs. And Lina feeds us tamales. But this board will always be here, just due to the fact that it contains a lot of nice personal recollections from various band members and the like. It doesn't matter to me if it's the hip place to be or not.

I really enjoyed hearing "Make Believe" and "Walk Like Me" during the Last's set. Don't know why Walk Like Me seemed like such a treat -- I think they play it fairly regularly, haven't they?

My memory isn't the best, but I think they opened with "Try to Rise." That's a rare one (at least to my knowledge, as I didn't see the band perform during a long stretch from the mid-80s to the 90s).
