Well, things can't be all bad. I sold a copy of The Bee Gees "Horizontal" as soon as I walked in today.
But I am getting sick of all this underachievement....

That's easy. Just say NO!

And if you just can't, stall and tell them you need to consult with your personal Tarot reader before you can give them an answer. :P

And then I'll tell you to tell them NO!

I'll give you the Death card, or The Tower.

Those are scary ones! :P

talk about buried threads. might as well use it since its been resurrected.

yesterday: not too bad. worked at the club then hung out at home for a bit. went to see pharoah sanders at catalinas jazz club.

today: well i just woke up so nothing exciting yet. working til 5 at the club. then going to pedro to practice and pick up band gear in the van. then we play our second to last show this year at Que Sera.

Damn, this thread brings back memories

Since you asked - I've been suffering from a SEVERE cold thing this week, which is only now starting to abate. Dunno how Joe and Mike ever recorded that album at the Blasting Room whilst being downed with the 48 hour itus during that week 4 years ago. I become physically, mentally, and spiritually incapacitated whenever I'm in the throes of illness. I contemplate suicide every time I get sick :ill:

It has been abnormally cold here for this time of year, daytime temps in the 30s and nightly lows in the teens. Global freezing.

They are talking about layoffs at my place of slavery. Maybe they can time it to happen in the new year so I can get severence and jet out to L.A. & FINALLY make to one of Lina's tamale parties...

Wow. I hope you feel better soon. Bill had some sort of illness when we were in Austin. I've never seen him even half that sick before. Somehow, he was still able to play.

I get fucking miserable when I'm sick, but have gotten to where I can still work. I can't always leave the house, but I can stumble across the hall and do bookkeeping or whatever.

I had a really good day yesterday. I went on a date which went really well.

Everyone seems to be sick lately. I'm trying to avoid seriously, so I think I'll just take off work all next week to be sure. :P

Work, work, work, and fun stuff seem to be keeping me busy lately. And I consider this taking a break.

Next month starts tamale season. I visualize being chained to the masa bowl and tamale pot. Rory bought me a big, blue new one!

No shows lately, but I would really like to go see Cheap Trick at the HOB Anaheim next month.

Maybe I can split in two and do it all. Sorta.

come out to LA and perhaps lina can arrange for tamales.

yesterday was a crazy busy day at the club. the lakers bought out our 7 oclock show and plus other things like last minute changes with one of the name comedians not being able to make then being able to etc... went on a date that i probably shouldnt have gone to right after work cause i was too tired and whatnot.

oh well.

today ive just been at the house lounging around. cleaning up a bit. going to band practice a little later on.

Oh, just come along one and all - the tamales are on me! :D

(well not literally on me, that would be unsanitary and all that. Not that I'm not clean, but you know how the gov't is about food prepared by human hands for human consumption these days.)

And Jason, I figure I owe you a few tamales by now. Come and get 'em!

Must be the season of layoffs. Most everyone I know has beenfacing it the last few weeks. Even Rory faced the possibility after only about a year since he got it last time. Luckily, he was spared this time around, as was another friend of ours at another place. Not fun, unless, like Mike, you've been praying for it.

I think I may start the tamale season earlier this year and start this weekend with the first batch. Maybe. Depends on how ambitious I feel after Thursday.

I need to come out there sometime. Are there any shows or anything happening that I should attend?

well if you want to count my band playing a super trendy club in LA worth flying out for then by all means. other than that not too much else that is on a fly out here type of importance.

my day today: a nice kick back day. slept in til about 11, putted around the house, watched some simpsons on dvd, went to pick up my paycheck at the music school and then went to practice by myself at our rehearsal room. probably going to barnes and noble for some book browsing.

spent about 10hrs at the club today. my mind was numb at the end of it. went to my friend davids house to normalize my head. now im here.

tomorrow: work at the club 10-2, teaching drums at gray school in pedro til 7, then going to long beach to pick up a band mate, then practice until midnight, driving him home to silverlake and home and sleep.

long day at the club. got confirmation from Spaceland(the club im playing in december) that they are ok with the last band we had suggested for the line up.

im excited and nervous as hell. its going to be by far our most important LA show to date as a band if not our most important show. we put on as stellar a line up as we could and we will be accepting gifts for kids in one of the childrens hospitals.

if you care to look them up we are playing with

Correatown, Summer Darling and Vaudeville all of whom i consider to be among the best bands playing in LA. We are billed as the headlining band which is a bit crazy.

just thinking about it makes me a bit stressed out.

oops, just ranting now.
